What's Up This Weekend

  • Dec. 5th, 2008 at 2:01 PM

I had the whole weekend planned out, well, sort of planned out.

Tonight I'm taking the girls to Auburn to see Santa and participate in a few other holiday festivities.  We are meeting Papa and Grandma at Dairy Queen for supper, yummy!!

Tomorrow morning is the annual Christmas Parade in Springfield.  I was planning on taking the girls, we love parades, but I am a little scared of the cold.  I HATE being cold.  It doesn't seem to bother the girls much, especially the big one.  The little one can hang in there for a while, then she gets whiny and complains a lot that she is freezing.  So, do I battle the cold, or battle the girls, who insist that they will not be cold tomorrow morning?  With the temperatures dropping to 16 degrees tonight, I am pretty sure it will be cold at 10:00AM tomorrow.

But, to throw a loop into the whole weekend, my husband's grandpa fell last night and shattered his knee, possibly fractured his shoulder and his hip.  He hurt the knee that has already been replaced.  So now, they are trying to get the doctor that did the first surgery.  But he is in Peoria at the VA hospital and in the middle of another surgery right now.  So, do they transfer him to Peoria and do surgery there, or wait for the doctor to get here (if her can), or have another doctor step in?  Now, I love my family and my husband's family, but all day at the VA hospital, more than an hour away from home, with my 2 girls and my mother-in-law, does not sound like a good time.  We'll see what happens.

The grandpa issue cancels out the cold parade.

So much for planning the weekend!!!
