Tonight is my monthly critique group meeting, but I am not sure I am going to be able to make it.  My daughter has a t-ball game this evening and I am in charge of snacks and drinks.  But it might rain, which would cancel the game.  My hubby is not working tonight, so he will be home to keep the kids, which is usually another obstacle to solve before I attend my monthly meetings.  Although I don't have anything to submit tonight, I have a few things running through my head.  Attending the meeting would force me to focus on my writing for a while.  I am in the process of creating a character.  I have a few ideas for picture books, but I want to know who my character is first.  My SCRIBES could help me with her.  I'm also thinking about entering a poetry contest, something which I have never done before.  I am hoping for encouragement from the SCRIBES.  And I also have three publishers in mind to send my current picture manuscript to, two book publishers and Highlights.  I haven't dedicated much time to my writing this summer, so I am hoping to be able to dive back in this fall. 

On a somewhat related note, Hurricane Ike might cancel my trip to New Orleans.  I am supposed to leave on Wednesday, and I still have a thousand things to do before I leave.  (Which is where this relates to the above, it was another reason that I was not able to attend the meeting tonight.)  And we are going to the Cards/ Cubs game tomorrow night, so I have to get everything done TONIGHT, if we are going.  I am totally bummed.  Still keeping my fingers crossed though.
