Happy Monday!
What a lovely weekend, weather wise. Friday was absolutely beautiful here, sunny and about 75 degrees. I even got off work early, but couldn't take advantage of the fabulous weather.
I stopped by the store to pick up a gift bag, and some snacks. The girls and I were headed to St. Louis with grandma and papa to attend a surprise baby shower for my sister and her husband. And was she ever surprised! We had a good time and got to see a lot of her family-in-law (I think I just made up a new word) that we don't get to see much. The girls played with all the other until I had to pull them away and take them home.
One month til new baby girl Bennett, I think they are going to name her Adeline (not sure if I spelled that right), pronounced with a long i sound at the end.
Saturday we went to the Henson Robinson Zoo in Springfield to see my friend Kim Hutmacher. She was having her Launch Party of her book, Paws, Claws, Hands and Feet. I have pictures of the event, so when I get home tonight, I will try to post more on this.
I walked 7.5 miles yesterday morning. I got up early and really enjoyed the peace and quiet of the morning. I had the pleasure of experiencing a light morning mist a couple of times, which felt so good during a tough walk. I also stopped and chatted with a group of older folks, who apparently gather early in the morning with their dogs. My legs are a little sore today, but not as bad as they were the first time I did 5 miles a few weeks ago. My hips hurt though. Not sure what to do about that, I can't figure out how to stretch them out better. Maybe they just need to be lubed up some, I am nearly 36, you know.
Oh yeah, we had the excitement of a (maybe) tornado yesterday. It apparently hit just west of us when we were at Perkins yesterday. I had taken the girls to the bathroom (I spend way more time in public restrooms than any one person should be allowed too), and a couple of older ladies came in while we were washing hands. "The s-i-r-e-n-s- just went off." she spelled out, apparently not wanting to startle the kids.
It took me a minute, but I can spell. So once I figured out what she was telling me, I went to find my husband. He seemed to think that I was crazy so he went to get the car while I paid the bill.
Turns out, something hit Springfield's west side and north side right about the time I was in the bathroom at Perkins. There is lots of damage around town, and some power outages, but no one is hurt.
Gotta love March in central Illinois. You never know what will happen.
Have a great day, and more on Kim and her fabulous new book later. I promise I'll figure out how to post pictures so you can all see how beautiful and happy she is.
