A Great Weekend

  • Jan. 26th, 2009 at 9:18 AM

I had a really great weekend.

Friday night was Mo night.  I packed the kids into the car, picked up my dad (cause he had to get out of the house) and we trucked down to St. Louis to see Mo Willems at the St. Louis County Library.

It was so worth the 1 1/2 hour drive.

About 600 people showed up, it was packed when we got there.  They ran out of line tickets and there was no place to sit by the time we arrived.  The library was expecting about 300 people.

But we purchased his Naked Mole Rat book, and a few others, and the kids wormed their way up to the front to see him read.  He read three books and answered questions from the kids.  Then he started signing books.  We had to wait for a while, because we didn't have a ticket.

But he signed every book.  We had 7 books and my dad had 3 books.  My girls were so excited.  And so was I.  I was a little bummed that he didn't ask me to marry him, or even just tour with him, but, that would have probably caused complications at home anyway, so I guess that's ok.

Anyway, we had a blast!!!  If I can figure out how to do it, i will post a picture tonight.

Saturday was also a good day (or night, I guess).  The kids stayed all night with their friends and the hubby and I got to go to our friends 40th birthday party.  He is our first friend that turned 40.  It was a surprise party, and oh what a surprise!!

We have a good friend that lives out in Colorado, who no one was expecting, and he showed up!!!  His wife was lovely enough to stay back in Denver with the kids, and he surprised us all!!!  What fun.  It was the first time in probably 3 years that our whole gang was together, and we had a blast!!!

So, thanks to Mo and Jim for making my weekend fabulous!

Hope yours was good too.
